BCS Admission - How it Works
Admission Procedure
- Application and fee submitted to Berks Christian School
- Parents and any child in grade 7 to 12 are to be interviewed by the Admission Committee.
- Results of the interview are to follow within 5 days.
Admissions Policy
- The Primary reason for existence of BCS is to Provide a Christian education for children from Christian families. This is in harmony with the fact that the school views itself as an extension of the Christian home as it discharges its Biblical responsibility for the training of children.
- Admission is limited to families in which at least one parent has professed Jesus Christ as personal Savior. Any exceptions must be determined on an individual basis by the school administrator or pastoral staff.
- An application for enrollment is properly made when the application form provided by the school is completed and returned to the school together with the non-refundable, appropriate registration fee. This fee is in addition to tuition and other fees. No child will be assigned a position on enrollment lists until the above form and fee have been received.
- An interview with the applicants parents shall be carried out before admission to the school shall be granted. A prospective 7th to 12th grade student is to attend that interview with the parents.
- The applicants previous educational achievement, patterns of behavior, and learning potential shall be considered as factors bearing upon whether he/she will be granted enrollment. Applicants are tested by the school before admission can be granted unless recent achievement test results are available.
- BCS is not designed to be an institution for problem children. Students whose work has been below acceptable standards or students who may have had serious disciplinary problems at other schools may not be accepted.
- Enrollment of all eligible children in a family shall be considered desirable. Members of the interview committee may wish to inquire into situations in which this principle is not observed. Re-evaluation of the position of students enrolled in BCS or applying for enrollment may ensue.
- A probationary period of one marking period will be required prior to final acceptance for all new students.
- Re-enrollment applications for pupils who have outstanding tuition debts from the prior year will not be accepted unless the BCS Committee grants special permission.
