He shares these thoughts about Berks: “I enjoy the interaction with staff, parents, and best of all the students.  It is a thrill to me to see the students grow in the Lord and to achieve success in the classroom, on the athletic field, and upon the stage with our fine arts programs!  I have experienced BCS as a student, a parent, a teacher, and now as an administrator, and I genuinely believe that there is no better place for my children than right here.”

Mrs. Lyle has been at Berks since 1991.  She and her husband, Steve, have two children both graduates of Berks.  Lori graduated in 1993, and Michael followed in 1996.  Although she interacts with the students from the office rather than the classroom, Mrs. Lyle still feels part of the Berks Christian community. “I like my job as secretary at Berks Christian because my fellow workers are Christian and share the same beliefs.  The job is never boring! Each day is filled with many opportunities. I have been challenged to continue learning new things and have met many interesting people.  Working around the students helps to keep me in touch with the younger generation.”

Mrs. Walls and her husband, Bob, are the parents of James, married to Chrissie, Matthew, married to Amanda and Kristi, married to Jose Diaz.  Kristi is a BCS alumni and is the only one of her children living in the Reading area.  She has lived and experienced Jeremiah 29:11 – 13 and Philippians 4:4-7.

Stacey Kline
Stacey Kline
Fifth Grade Teacher

Stacey Kline enjoys the privilege and freedom to discuss and apply Biblical principles throughout the day whenever the Holy Spirit gives the opportunity.  She enjoys seeing a student’s face smile in agreement as she supports and reinforces the Biblical principles they are being taught at home.   Fifth graders seem willing and ready to accept the spiritual challenges put before them often sharing how the Holy Spirit connects what they are learning at school to another venue such as a discussion with friends, a Sunday School lesson, a dinner table topic, etc.

Stacey earned her B.S. degree at Bob Jones University.

God created each one of us with different learning styles and abilities. Through resourcing and NILD, we are able to help these students achieve academically.  It is great when entire families are able to attend BCS.”

Mrs. Thomas’s life verse is Psalm 121.

Vallerie Frey
Vallerie Frey
Secondary English

Mrs. Frey has been on the faculty at Berks since 2004.  She and her husband, Mike, have three children who attend Berks: Michael, Emily and James.  Mrs. Frey  received her B.S. in Molecular Biology from Chestnut Hill College with a minor in English. She then completed her English degree and gained her PA certification from Alvernia University.  Mrs. Frey shares her thoughts about Berks this way. “I enjoy the family atmosphere here at Berks. I know my students, and my students know me.  I also have the opportunity to get to know the families of my students. There is a definite sense of caring for all aspects of the student’s lives.  I enjoy teaching English because it allows me to show my students that God gave us written and spoken language so that we could impact the world for him.  English isn’t about commas and hyphens; it’s about an all-knowing God allowing us to communicate for Him to others.  What an awesome opportunity for all of us!”

Mrs. Frey’s life verse is Micah 6:8.

Mary Klase
Mary Klase

Mrs. Klase has been a member of the BCS faculty since 2004.  She is married to Dave, the Senior pastor of Exeter Bible Church, and is also the mother of four graduates of Berks Christian: Rebekah, Rachel, Daniel and Paul, their foreign exchange student from South Korea.  Mrs. Klase graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Educational Ministries and minors in both Bible and Mathmatics.  Her thoughts on BCS are these: “I have always loved learning and teaching math.  It’s so exciting to see math in God’s creation and to be able to apply its principles to everyday life.  The students at BCS are so bright and creative.  I love being at a school where I have the opportunity to be a part of the student’s lives as well as to teach them.”

Her life verses are Psalm 145:17-21.

Rebekah Klase
7-10th Grade Bible, Finance and SAT Prep/Leadership Training (rotating basis), Yearbook

Miss Klase has been a faculty member at BCS since 2010. However, her ties to Berks Christian go further back. Rebekah is the daughter of Dave and Mary Klase, the Senior pastor at Exeter Bible Church and the Secondary Math Teacher respectively.  Both of her siblings are graduates of BCS: Rachel (‘07) and Daniel (‘11). Miss Klase graduated from Berks herself in 2006. She then went on to Baptist Bible College where she graduated in 2010 with a B.S. in Bible and Counseling.  Her reasons for teaching at Berks are directly linked to the school. “Being an alumni of BCS, it held a special place in my heart all during college, and I realized it was my dream to come back and teach.  I learned in college that Christian education is so valuable and vital in student’s lives.  I am so blessed to work at BCS where I have the opportunity to impact student’s lives as mine was impacted when I was a student here.”

Katie Grove
Secondary History

Miss Grove has been with Berks since 2009.  Her college education was garnered at Eastern University where she received a B.A. in History and Secondary Education.  Her thoughts on why she choose Christian Education and BCS are these. “My second favorite thing about being a part of Berks Christian School, or christian education in general, can be explained in on word: Paideia - meaning soul education or educating the whole person.  It’s a joy to be a part of that.  My most favorite thing about Berks can also be explained with one word: people - the students, the teachers, and the parents make the school great.”

Miss Grove’s life verse is Col.3:2-4.

Peter Mountz
Secondary Science

Mr. Mountz begins his time here at Berks this year (2011). He and his wife Brittany live in Spring City, south of Pottstown. He comes to Berks with a B.S. in Secondary Education (Social Studies and Bible) as well as PA state certification in Social Studies and Middle Level Science and ACSI Certification all obtained from Philadelphia Biblical University.  Mr. Mountz has experience as a long-term substitute in the public school system, but had chosen BCS and christian education for these reasons: “ Public schools are challenging because the truth must be concealed within the Christian teacher’s mind. There is little or no reason to challenge students to pursue excellence except in the striving after high-paying jobs. BCS is a Bible-believing and teaching school which faithfully guides students toward building a Christian worldview.”

Mr. Mountz’s  life verse is Psalm 63.

Tammy Endy
Athletic Director, Physical Education

Mrs. Endy has been with Berks since 2008. Her husband Matt is also involved here at BCS as the Varsity Boys Soccer Coach.  Their oldest daughter Niki graduated from Berks in 2011. While their younger daughter Matti is a 7th grader here at BCS. Mrs. Endy’s focus on youth can be seen in her thoughts about Berks. “I am a youth leader at Exeter Bible Church and also serve as the Athletic Director/PE teacher for Berks Christian School.  At the beginning, I felt that I connected more with the high schoolers, but as I get to know the middle school and elementary kids, I find that I enjoy them also. I have felt the Lord’s leading into youth ministry. I love working with the youth because they tend to stretch you and really make you accountable for your actions as they watch you and look to you for guidance.  I love being around the kids, being at their games and watching them grow.”

Mrs. Endy’s life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.

Tara Beates
Elementary Art & Computer, Middle School Computer & Spanish 1 & 2

Mrs. Beates is new to BCS this year. She and her husband, Jameson, were just married in May. Mrs. Beates is a graduate of Kutztown University, with a B.A. and an M.A. in Art Education. She enjoys “everything about art” and has enjoyed creating things since childhood. Mrs. Beates is excited about the challenge of teaching computer. “I think technology is so important for students to learn at all ages, since we use it so much in today’s society. Knowing how to use it appropriately and safely, yet still benefit from it, will be my goal for my students this year.” She loves the Psalms, and cites Psalm 25:5 as a favorite Bible verse.

Carol Calle
Elementary Chapel & Private Instrument Lessons

Mrs. Calle has taught at Berks since 2006. She and her late husband had five children, and she now enjoys thirteen wonderful grandchildren. After her husband went to be with the Lord in 2000, Mrs. Calle went back to school, earning her B.S. in Bible and Christian Living from Lancaster Bible College. Her thoughts reflect her joy in serving the Lord in this ministry. “I love seeing the eyes of the children light up when they understand truths from God’s Word, especially God’s plan of salvation. I count it a privilege, but also an awesome responsibility, to teach God’s eternal Truth to the students at Berks.” Her life verse is Psalm 37:4.

Charlene Conrad
Middle School Family & Career and High School Cooking Elective

Mrs. Conrad taught at BCS from 2001-2004, and returned in 2009. She and her husband, Chip, who attended BCS, have four children: Tashia (BCS ‘05), Brendon, Hunter, and Trey (10th grade). She is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Education from Liberty University. Her comments reflect her enthusiasm for teaching.
“I love seeing the middle school students rush into Family and Career class, eager to begin the next unit. They show a great deal of enthusiasm for the projects we complete - baking, cooking, sewing, laundry, career exploration, and others. My cooking students also look forward to each challenge and become quite talented with international cuisine, appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and desserts.” Mrs. Conrad’s favorite verses are Jeremiah 29:11 and 33:3, and 2 Corinthians 1:3-5.

Michelle Halter
Preschool Head Teacher

Mrs. Halter is our preschool head teacher and has been a faculty member since 2007. She also works in the NILD program as a resource aid. She and her husband, Brian, have four sons at BCS: Nathaniel (11th grade), Colin (9th), Landon (6th), and Brayden (2nd). Mrs. Halter studied at West Chester University. She says, “I love the preschool age. My favorite time is when we teach our Bible stories, showing the children God’s love for them. I also love working in the NILD program, helping students become the successful, confident students that God created them to be.” Psalm 18:1-3 is her favorite Bible passage.

Rachel Hartranft
Elementary Library

Mrs. Hartranft has taught elementary Library since 2010. She and her husband, Doug, have four children: Leah (10th grade), Marie (6th), Luke (6th), and Jacob (2nd). Mrs. Hartranft says, “Reading is one of my favorite things to do with my children and is also my favorite thing about Library. It is rewarding to see a child who hasn’t particularly liked to read get excited about a book. BCS has a great group of students, and I enjoy getting to know them and talking to them about practical Christian living as it relates to library - things like respect for others and for the books, doing our best for God’s glory, even in reading, and choosing God-honoring reading material.” Her favorite Scripture verse is Jeremiah 29:11.

Lawrence Rappoldt
4th-12th Band

Mr. Rappoldt is new to Berks Christian this year and teaches Band for grades 4-12, as well as instrumental music lessons. He also holds an M.S. in Education from Wilkes University. Mr. Rappoldt and his wife of 30 years, Meg, have two daughters, Laura and Sarah. “Music has been an important part of my life ever since I was a little child,” he says. “When teaching music, directing a performing group, or participating in a musical event, I am totally immersed in what I am doing and thoroughly enjoy using the gifts God has given me for His glory. I am very excited to be at a wonderful Christian school that values the gift of music.” Mr. Rappoldt claims 2 Corinthians 5:17 as his favorite Bible verse.
